There are a lot of marketing tricks and tactics to having you spend more than necessary or making a diamond look better than it really is. Vincent truly has the buyers best interest. Vincent is the best! If you only read the first line of my review, Vincent really cares that you buy the best diamond for your budget, and will spend a lot of time and effort to make sure he can maximize your return on your money.



My fiance is very opinionated on the style of her setting so we looked at several rings and settings at local jewelry stores where we live. That gave me a decent idea of the design that she wanted, although I still planned to buy a loose diamond so that she could go into precise details with the craftsman on the final setting design. However, given that we had spent so much time looking at rings together, I was struggling to think how I could surprise her (I had proposed with a placeholder ring). She left the budget constraints to me, and we both agreed that the high end super ideal cut hearts and arrows stones from the likes of CBI and Brian Gavin were out of reach for my budget. Additionally, I had a James Allen diamond from an earlier time in my life that I could trade in for 100% of its value if I bought another JA stone that was 2x or greater in value, so I just assumed I would go with another James Allen stone.



I discussed my goals and budget with Vincent and he came back in a couple of days with several candidate stones from James Allen True Hearts collection with near perfect optical symmetry, and near perfect crown and pavilion angles, etc.



He also found a CBI/HPD stone and a Brian Gavin stone that were priced similarly to the James Allen stones. This was a surprise to me, as I had assumed that CBI would be out of reach. However, there was still the issue of the trade-in. With 100% of the value of the old diamond applied towards the new one, it still felt like JA would be a better value. However, Vincent suggested giving Wink Jones at HPD a call because he might be able to offset some of the cost difference via a trade-in.



Sure enough HPD was able to mitigate some of the cost difference by trading in my old stone. At this point, there was still a non-trivial delta in price between the two options, and Vincent was very unbiased and objective in his advice. He spent several hours with me on the phone, helping me think through the trade-offs and options. I eventually went for the CBI stone and the importance of everything that Vincent talks about on his site hit home when I saw the stone in person: The CBI stone was simply a step above in terms of brilliance, sparkle, and fire compared to everything else I had seen in person.

Let me just start out by saying that I had a wonderful experience working with Vincent. The proof is in the fact that my fiancee absolutely LOVES her diamond and I can see her smiling and looking at it practically on a daily basis.



He also helped me save money! I went and looked at the stones on the store site where I bought the setting from and a diamond with the same specs would have cost me at least $1,000 more with them! I am always a skeptical person (I work as a financial auditor), but when I started consulting with Vincent, it was very clear he wasn't a person looking to make a quick dollar. I found that diamond research can be complicated and confusing, but Vincent can simplify the complex, or talk to you in detail if you have a solid base of knowledge. Based on my own reading, it was clear to me that two diamonds with very similar specs can reflect light very differently. There is also some "wiggle room" in the grading of diamonds. This is where it gets complex and where Vincent REALLY helped me find value. He was able to take the specs and budget I was looking at and pick out the cream of the crop.

I had travelled all the way to Dubai from New Zealand to buy an engagement ring - twenty-two hours by plane. Unfortunately the selection of diamonds in Dubai's Gold and Diamond Park was not quite what I had expected. The Indian holiday of Diwali was imminent too: No more diamonds would arrive for at least ten days. Feeling compromised, I nevertheless made a selection. Afterwards though I was hounded by doubt. I started out with zero knowledge. In a time crunch, I rushed out to buy her an engagement ring from Costco. This was after a visit to BrilliantEarth.
